Listening to the market, talking to the consumer

On the 8th of March 2006, AESE – College of Management and Business Studies, invited Lucia Chrometzka, to present in Portugal (Porto) the work of Future Concept Lab regarding the trends of consumption in Europe and the changes taking place in the domestic environment.
Professionals from the Fashion and Textiles Industry, such as Cenestap and Anivec, coming from different parts of Portugal participated at the seminar, entitled “Listening the market, talking to the consumer” (Ouvir o mercado e saber falar com o consumidor) and organised in the Fundação Cupertino de Mirando building.

During the morning, Lucia Chrometzka presented the Institute’s research results and the most relevant case studies regarding “The six trends of emerging consumption” but also the Domesticity Scenarios and Living Trends, findings contained in FCL’s latest book “Living Trends”, supported by the analysis of successful product cases regarding design production.

An open discussion about the industry and the competitive advantage of the Portuguese creativity and genius loci, followed the two presentations, and marked the end of the first part of the seminar dedicated to trends.

In the afternoon, Lucia Chrometzka held a conference for the 27th edition of Modtissimo, the only fabrics and accessories trade show in Portugal. More than 200 people, mostly young designers and fashion professionals, participated in the conference, organised by ATP –Portuguese Textile and Clothing Association, which took place in the Edifício da Alfândega do Porto and was entitled “Mentalities and Trends in Fashion Consumption” (Mentalidades e Tendências de Consumo de Moda).
